Good Points: Compact half flip User friendly
Bad Points: No bad points for me, only that I wish there was a similar up-to-date compact model of the Z7E
General comments: I bought the Sony CMD-Z7e mobile phone 3 years ago. I liked the side ball scroll and click which was easy to use. Messages were easy and quick to view. I also liked the reminder hourly chimes, the calendar, and the recordable ringtones. For me it has been the best phone I have ever had.
I have recently had mine stolen and would like to buy another, even secondhand - any offers?

I bought a Sony CMD-Z7e three years ago and it now seems to be the only flip lid phone available that I can get out of my pocket with one hand, while carrying shopping in the other, and operate all the controls easily with that one hand.

I'v had this Sony CMD Z7e mobile phone for over a year, I'm only getting rid of it cause i want a camera phone. I had a nokia pants 3310 before. The main thing about a phone is that it looks good, sounds good and is easy to use. The search dial at the side makes finding numbers simple. The ringtones that you record sound good and why everyone doesnt have a flip phone is beyond me. awesome phone.

I bought my Sony CMD Z7e 1 year ago and I still love it. I just dont get bored with this mobile phone and thats strange because i usually always get bored with my old things no matter how much i love them. I use it a lot its a great stylish phone. It looks nice and very sexy ;) I dropped it down the stairs a few times and nothing happend to it, it doesn't look very strong but it is a durable phone. Its also very easy to use.

I am tied into a one year deal with the Sony CMD Z7e phone, and it' s nearly over thank god ! I have had three of them over the first 5 mnths of the period, they have all hung, switch off etc etc. When they breakdown they have to go to Paris for service - where I imagine there is a large skip that they throw them into, cos' I have had 2 brand new replacements. My latest is so poor that I abandoned using it in May; and decided to bail out of my deal and buy a Siemens Xelibri - so at least I could ...

The Sony CMD Z7e is Small, Compact and easy to use. Stylish looking and quit a bit unique so cant get mixed up or lost easily.
Little low on customising but software (freeware) on the net lets you customise it a LOT, except for the ring+vibrate function.
GPRS would have made it much better, as surfing is quite good on this.

When my mum bought me this Sony CMD Z7e for no reason i thought WOW. I had a Nokia 3410 and it was a change. The ringtones were better looking, better, more options, nice add-ons for SMS. On the whole it is a good phone which includes a doody dicterphone, great for a laugh. My friends like this phone and now i feel different than everyone else, all my friends have Nokia's you see. So i just can say this phone is really good and worth eighty quid any day.

After having had this Sony CMD-Z7 for a few months now i am sorry to say its not all its cracked up to be. The phone appears to be active but the software has stopped responding, it switches itself off during phone calls or while texting and for some reason sometimes takes more than 12 hours to fully charge, this is all still happening despite the phone supposedly having been repaired twice in the last 2 months. if you can try something else unless you absolutely have no choice

Well what can i say ... i cant believe i paid £160 for a pants phone! At the moment i would prefer a nokia 3310 due to the amount you can personalise it. If you could get new ringtones, wallpaper and they improved the ringtones and vibrate quality it would be better. It also needs a vibrate AND ring function and be able to change the cover (mine is very scratched and a bit cracked). Over all im not happy with it at all and am now trying to sell it second hand but am having no luck so far.

The CMD Z7 looks the part but fails to deliver. Although there are many features such as the scheduler, WAP applications and Voice dial and memo functions, the memory on the phone is quickly filled, and navigation around the device is convoluted and irritating - the "quick select" keys will take you to a menu but not to a suib-menu item e.g. you can select "messaging" but cannot get directly to "Outbox" from the front screen in one or two button presses. Add to this the fact that the ring tone ...

Just given phone by a friend who was on a contract and I use it as pay-as-you-go on Orange. Have not encountered the many problems that have been pointed out in these reveiws yet but I have one little quibble: how do you get inside to clean the display when it seems to attract a lot of dust. Is this only done by the manufacturers? If I wanted to change the case for a new one can this be done by myself. If anyone has opened one of these phones to clean the display can you please let me know how t ...

A nice looking phone let down by poor quality reception, transmission, and voice quality.
Ringtones are abysmal and not able to be updated by download. Vibrate mode and ring volume is so undetectable I must miss 10 calls a day.

The CMD Z7 is a backwards step from the CMD Z5. When the CMD Z5 1st came out it was new and fresh and brimming with features. The Z7 removes some of these. Its difficult to hear it ringing and impossible to feel it vibrating in your pocket (the number of calls I have missed!). The inbuilt answer phone has been removed (why?). You can't have vibrate and ring at the same time! Its bigger and heavier. The speaker phone is a waste of time. Its got an orange display. They have illiminated the clay pi ...

I changed to the Z7 from a Z5, and on the face of it the phone appeared to work well. However, after 6 months I am very disappointed. The phone must have really dodgy software as it keeps on locking me out. The phone looks on, but is totally unresponsive and I can only get it back by taking it out of the case and taking out the battery. Once the battery is back then the phone starts up OK. You don't know when this will happen, it is random, but seems to be getting more frequent. What's the ...

I prefer phones with vibrate as I quite often have to ignore a ringing phone. This is no problem with the Z7 as you will miss every call you receive if you rely on the vibrate and havnt got the phone stuffed down your pants. It really is useless, switching from an Ericsson T18 before which could literally walk accross a table when rung. It's market must have been Japan because it has the worst possible ringtones on it and nothing that sounds like a phone, I ended up trying to record a proper pho ...

The Sony CMD-Z7 must be based on Microsoft as the phone keeps hanging a few times a day. Looks like it is switched on, but is in fact non responsive, and therefore fairly random if I am available or not. The jog dial is great, although it is a bit irritating when it accidentally changes the ringer to silent. It's a real bind not being able to have ring and vibrate simultaneously.

I found the phone very stylish. Unlike people who have Nokias, I stand out in a crowd. Very good features and a good polyphinic sound. The tunes could be better though. The backlight should have been a better color. I am sooo very happy to have this phone. One proud owner.
