Good Points: I bought one of these 4 years ago and it is still going strong with the help of another for spares. It has an interesting navigation system which is operated by a jog dial on the side. Writing text messages is easy with it's clear functional buttons. The case is very durable and the flip cover protects the keys from dirt.
Bad Points: It looks very scruffy now but It has been dropped loads of times. It's on it's second battery and I've had to replace the charger link up point on the bottom of the phone. On a handful of occasions it has crashed which requires it to be re-started. The ringtones are also terrible, I've tried all of them and they all annoy me now but I can't bare to part with the thing!
General comments: I'm one of those people who just wants a phone that works and as long as it still works I'll keep it. It's also become a talking point in the pub, one of my friends even thought it was a radio! If you come across one of these in good nick and cheap I'd recommend it.

Had my Sony CMD-Z7 for nearly 4 years now and wouldn't change it for the world had the odd Nokia but have always gone back to using my Sony. It's robust, has a large screen the dial navigation is very good it still has the same battery it came with the only thing that has gone wrong with it is the housing is a tad loose but it is 4 years old! Ring tones are rubbish if the volume is high so can be a little hard to hear, games aren't great but all in all a great little phone.

This is short but to the point. The Sony CMD-Z7 is the Caprice of mobile phones (great looks/body). The downsides were that it was a one for turning off during a phone call and when on standby. The battery quality wasn't brilliant (lasted ages though) so simple to use with the jog dial, and texting was dead simple. I even set up my email account on it so that I could send and receive my emails whilst I'm out. Never let me down at all. I got it unlocked to all networks the reception was still as ...

A decent phone. It is currently 2 years old, but the features it provides you with are still to be matched to this day. Features include:
Large screen (3 inches)
World clock
Blackjack and Table Football
Voice Dial
700 number phonebook memory
110 hour battery life
and this is just to name a few. A good phone.

I can't believe what others have said about this phone. I have had my phone for over two years now, the thumb wheel still works perfectly and is one of the best menu navigation tools in my opinion. The software has never crashed and has a great menu navigation. Although after two and a bit years the battery life has now been reduced to about 2-4 days with my normal use compared to about 4-7 when I first got it, but that can only be expected. I text quite a lot with this phone and the keypad is s ...

I upgraded from an 8210 to this phone and initially it was a great phone which looked and felt much better than the Nokia. It is not a very robust phone and in the 12 months I had it Sony had it for repair on 3 occasions, usually to do with the flip/microphone or the jog dial sticking.
The most annoying feature is the ringtone volume which is either too loud (which distorts the ringtone) or too quiet.
The phone is easy to use and the jog dial is an excellent way to navigate the features, when ...

I upgraded from a Nokia 6210 and it's the worst move I've ever made.
One software crash stops the thumbwheel working except up and down until you turn the phone off.
Another error is occasionally the phone will mute but not be IN mute-mode, ie the speaker will stop working until you restart the phone.
The flippy-bit is annoying and feels fragile, the WAP doesn't really work that well and the ringtones are naff as hell. Could really do with a composer.
Seriously, don't buy it. It's ...

The z7 has lots of faults like rubbish ring tones, always breaking, (mine has broken twice same problem both times!!) I must admit the WAP is quite good, the vibrate you are better off having a pet fly in your pocket which breaks wind when your phone rings... wot more do i need to say?!?

If you're considering this Sony Z7 mobile phone it is quite possibly the worst phone I have used. If you like cheesy ZX spectrum ring tones and a selection of naff pictures to send, then this is for you. The quick menu doesn't have one useful item on it, no messaging, no phone book etc. It only has all the services that no one ever uses. The phone does look good, is small and light and has decent battery life. This phone sucks.

I got this Sony z7 mobile phone as an upgrade from an 8210. Bad move. Ringtones are prettier but quieter & can't be heard half the time, there's no lock function so it sometimes switches itself to silent ring via the jog-dial - again, no use - it can't use numbers sent in texts and is generally not a patch on my old phone. Getting it was such a bad move that with 3 months passed of a 12 month Orange contract I'm looking for a 2ndhand unlocked 8210 to whack the sim into. You judge for yourself ho ...

The Sony Z7 mobile phone is sleek, stylish and sexy. It's easy to use, fun to use and collects all the birds numbers. The picture messages are great, tones too! Best phone i've ever had, and believe me i've had a few!

This Sony Z7 is a very good mobile phone. Because my previous phone was a nokia I didn't think this phone would be as easy to use, I was wrong. It's a very simple but effective phone, looks very professional, not just a gadget like certain nokia phones. recommended, games also fun.

Having only had a nokia before this Sony Z7 mobile phone it looked like it was going to be a real chore to learn, but it's basically an enhanced, nokia-style OS and very easy to get to grips with. It seems that the Sony OS is a touch more intuitive and thoughtful than Nokias, which is either because Nokia is still the best phone OS, or Sony are after Nokia users. Record any ringtone or system sound that you want. It looks cool in a low-key sort of way, and ok, so it only has two games, but they ...
